OurMine and the biggest hack in YouTube history
The OurMine group, which rocked the throne of YouTube, began the story on April 1, 2017 at 4pm GMT. The OurMine group has hacked many YouTube channels, and has been classified as the largest hack in YouTube history to date.
Start:
The attacks began with the penetration of a MCN "Multi Channel Network" network called Omnia Media, where the OurMine group hacked more than 300 channels of the network.
OurMine group changed the titles of all the videos to:
The impact of the penetration process on the channels:
I also mentioned that the group OurMine changed the title and description of the video only and did not delete any videos, and yet this led to a major flaw in the logarithm search in Google, where it depends entirely on the title and description. This resulted in significant loss of profits for the channels that were hacked.
Omnia Media network has a partnership with 1400 YouTube channels, of which 300 channels are fully partnered, where the network has full control of the channel, while the rest of the 1,100 channels are their partnership in the marketing field only Affiliate and therefore the rest of the channels were not affected by the penetration.
Let me make things simpler for you 🙂
There is a special platform provided by YouTube Management for multi-channel networks called Content Management System, this platform enables networks to control all channels.
What has been hacked is omnia Media's account and thus control of the control panel, with the possibility of changing the content of the entire video, from a title, description or keywords, and possibly also deleting videos.
But to date, all the directions of this group are peaceful and did not provide serious sabotage, they were available to delete the videos, and this would have caused catastrophic losses to the owners of the forces and the management of YouTube as well, but they were content to send a security message to the owners of the channels. As they have done before with many Twitter accounts for internet celebrities.
The hack lasted for a full 48 hours, while Omnia Media was able to make up for it, communicating with YouTube management and regaining control of the channels. But that doesn't mean that this has a huge marketing effect on Omnia Media.
On April 13, Studio71, a multi-channel network that has a partnership with many of its more than 11 million subscribers, was also hacked.
